For a while now I’ve been looking for a replacement for my usual vitamin c brightening lotion. I was torn between the Advanced Clinicals advanced brightening cream and the Medix 5.5 firming and brightening cream. Luckily, Nectar Beauty Hub was kind enough to send me both products that I had been considering. It made sense for me to do a comparison of both products for anyone who might be interested.

My Opinion
Instead of a full fledged review I’ll be leaving my opinion based on my first impression of both products. That’s because I haven’t used either of them long enough to leave a review. I haven’t even started using the Advanced Clinicals at all.
Key Ingredients
They both contain Vitamin C & Vitamin E and though it’s not listed as a key ingredient, the Medix 5.5 also contains Ferulic Acid just like the Advanced Clinicals. At the end of the day the performance of both lotions will depend on the percentage of these key ingredients, other active ingredients, the bioavailability of the ingredients, and the general formulation of both products. So for me, they both win this round because they both contain interesting ingredients.
Size/Packaging
Both products are approximately the same size, however, I love that the Advanced Clinicals comes with a screwable cover. This means that you don’t have to use scissors to cut open the bottle when the cream goes below the pump level. You just unscrew the cap and use it like a tub till the cream finishes. This gives the Advanced Clinicals a massive win.
Texture/Fragrance
Both products win the texture category. They both have a lightweight, non-stick texture. They both absorb quickly and do not have a greasy finish. However, I feel like the Medix 5.5 is slightly more moisturising.
When it comes to fragrance, I prefer the Advanced Clinicals fragrance. It’s more sweet and orangey, while the Medix 5.5 is more tart and lemony.
Claims/Benefits
Both products claim to address basically the same issues and offer the same benefits. They both address dull skin, discolouration, uneven skin tone and firm skin.
Conclusion
These two products offer basically the same benefits, the same ingredients, and the same price range. At the end of the day, choosing one over the other will just be a matter of personal preference or reviews of other users.
Both products are available at @nectarbeautyng_ or at their website www.nectarbeautyhub.com
